Education for action_site visit of Infosys Campus, Chandigarh

Aligned with the vision of Mr. Mahesh Ramanujam, CEO and President, GBCI and U.S. Green Building Council, GBCI India and Infosys joined hands to curate and conduct a learning tour for students from prominent architectural colleges in Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh, ahead of Teachers’Day. An initiative to impart education for retention and action witnessed participation from over 100 students representing I.K. Gujral Punjab Technical University - Mohali Campus, Lovely Professional University, Phagwara, Chitkara School of Planning and Architecture, Chandigarh and Deenbandhu Chhotu Ram University of Science and Technology, Murthal.
The students of architecture learnt about green building strategies implemented at the LEED Platinum certified Infosys Campus in Chandigarh, which would provide exposure and equip them to understand the O&M aspects of buildings they would be able to integrate in projects on the drawing board.

Education for action_site visit of Infosys Campus, Chandigarh: Infosys Campus in Chandigarh is a unique example where ongoing performance of the campus is being monitored through Arc. While students learn about climate responsive architecture and energy efficiency as part of the curriculum, the site visit provided the exposure to LEED certified project, and create awareness. Ms. Samhita Venkatesh, Managing Director, Ela Green Buildings and Infrastructure Consultants and USGBC Faculty also introduced the students to the value of LEED Lab and LEED credentials

The site visit created awareness and momentum on green buildings within Chandigarh and North India, at large, and facilitated a connect between theory and practice of green design through LEED.
