A GARDEN TOUR
We achieved a unique, intimate back garden space for our client
to relax in and to view from their existing deck & master
bedroom window above.
The central feature of the sitting arbour, covered in a lush
blanket of vine, succeeds in disguising the back facade of the
neighbour's garage. This architectural feature creates another
sitting area where one can relax and brings a sense of unity to
this garden.
The lattice extension on the fence allows for more privacy and
filtered light comes through onto the planted edges.
The variety of ornamental elements (water fountain, birdbath,
Japanese lantern, potted annuals, torches, bird feeders, plaques)
provides layers of sculptural composition and brings the client's
whimsical flare to this intriguing garden. The water fountain
located in the foreground of the arbour can also be viewed from
the deck above. The lion spouts bring a visual animation &
acoustic backdrop to the garden.
The use of the square flagstone separates & defines an oval
pattern of the lawn area within. This paved edge, set irregularly,
creates a flowing transition from the lawn into the planting beds.
The addition of large boulders brings another level of texture
& composition to the planted edges.
The perimeter planting softens the hard edges of the existing
deck, garage & fence, while also creating the illusion of
a larger space.
