Highcroft Ridge Elementary School 2017-18 Green Schools Quest

March 11, 2018

The students would like to create a monthly club that meets before school. The club would like to begin by identifying a problem: What can we do to help our environment here at Highcroft? Then, we would like to investigate the problem and come us with some solutions: What do we need to learn? What can we do to solve this problem? Lastly, our students would work towards creating a solution. Some ideas include composting, recycling and planting.

The teacher sponsors would really like the project to be created and driven by our students. Like last year with our Environmental Day, our students were able to see problems and created solutions to help our school and community learn more about what it is like to be environmentally friendly as well as how to conserve our natural resources. These projects encouraged our students to learn leadership skills as well as take ownership and pride in their school and community. They were able to teach others about the importance of being environmentally conscious.
