Help Us Learn About the Outdoors While We Are Outdoors!

September 02, 2019

Please help me give my students a picnic table for our outdoor classroom so they can learn about our environment and their part in protecting and loving our planet.

Children need to be outdoors to be healthy and happy, and this picnic table will give them a place to learn and experience the environment as well as help them grow into better global citizens who will help save our planet.

This picnic table will serve as the work area for the students as they study the world around them. They will learn about birds as they observe the birds around them. They will learn about plants as they observe, plant, and tend the plants around them.

Being in a child-centered educational setting where the children are naturally eager for knowledge and capable of initiating learning in a supportive, thoughtfully prepared learning environment is amazing.

The teacher, child, and environment create a learning triangle.
The learning environment (inside and outside) is prepared by the teacher to encourage independence, freedom within limits, and a sense of order.

This project will directly impact our PreK population as well as Kindergarten-aged students. The children in my class are experiencing learning through the Montessori method and need materials not typically seen in traditional classrooms.
