3-Stream Recycling Program Implementation with Legrand

October 13, 2017

In partnership with Legrand, North and Central America's Better Communities employee volunteer program, Central Jersey College Prep will be implementing brand new 3-stream recycling bins throughout the school. These new recycling bins were funded with the help of Legrand employee donations and will cover 62 classrooms, along with cafeteria, common & recreational areas. As part of Legrand's Better Schools focus and alignment with the Center for Green School's mission, in addition to the deployment of new recycling bins, Legrand employees will educate / raise awareness around the 3 R's and the zero waste concept with students, faculty & staff throughout the school year.

More impact of project

This past week, Legrand employees volunteered at Central Jersey College Prep in Somerset to un-box, label and deliver 3-stream recycle bins to all of the elementary school classrooms, as well as additional bins for more classrooms in the coming year. The president of our Data Center Power & Control Division also made a trip to meet with the school's leadership and talk about this initiative. As part of Legrand's Better Schools focus and alignment with USGBC's Center for Green School's mission, in addition to the deployment of new recycling bins, employees will volunteer to educate students, facility and staff about recycling throughout the school year. This new waste management program was made possible by employee donations at this past summer's internal Leadership Summit, as well as additional funds from other employee fundraisers. More to come on this project - stay tuned!
